I spend a lot of time clearing my home. A LOT.
Not cleaning, but clearing. There’s a slight difference. Clearing is eliminating items that are unnecessary to the space. They don’t add to the space, and are relatively useless. But, they are taking up space nonetheless and are begging to be eliminated. This clearing process helps you to see more clearly, and when you see more clearly, you think more clearly.
And, when this happens, you can manifest quicker.
Years ago, I realized that I was a natural minimalist. I really don’t need much to thrive. In fact, the less stuff I have, the happier I am.
I remember reading an article about Sade. It was when her most recent album came out. In the article, she said, “You could be in my house for an hour and not find anything to steal”. The reporter agreed and commented on her modest setting.
Side note: I don’t believe that you need to live modest to be a minimalist. In fact, for me, I prefer life on the more lavish side. But, lavish doesn’t have to mean more. Lavish can actually mean less.
Anyway, the point is that I know the benefit of living with less. Actually, I love the benefits of living with less stuff.
Living with less stuff:
- Helps you to keep your mind clear
- Gives you less to focus on
- Allows energy to flow more freely in and through your space
So, how do you let go of what doesn’t serve you? I tend to categorize my items.
- Things that I’ve used in the past 3 years
- Things that I haven’t used in the past 3 years
Things that I haven’t used in the past 3 years are the things that I focus on. I don’t automatically clear those items, but I ask myself questions like “how much space is it taking up”, “will I ever use this again” “is it serving its purpose and if so, how” and more importantly, “is there someone else that could benefit from having this item more than I have or will”.
The last two questions are the most important. I find that it’s easy to give up things that don’t serve me when I put it into the context of being of service to someone else. Especially if it is something that may have served me in the past, but hasn’t served me now.
The next time you look around your place, ask yourself questions about the things that are actually serving their purpose in your life. If you clear them, you can manifest more quickly and easily.
I bet some of those items could be used to serve other people and are just waiting on you to release them in order to work their magic.
But, you need to release and let go of them so that they can go about their merry way!
